Fortunately for the Foundation for Hackettstown Medical Center here in Hackettstown, New Jersey, Subaru’s “Share the Love” campaign has done just that - spread the love in a big way! The owners & management at Route 46 Subaru have designated the Foundation for Hackettstown Medical Center as the dealership’s charity of choice to receive the proceeds from Subaru of America’s annual “Share the Love” campaign. Over $43,000 in proceeds from “Share the Love” this year and last were applied to the Foundation for Hackettstown Medical Center’s “Bucket Brigade II” campaign, designed to raise additional funds for new technology, programs and services at Hackettstown Medical Center – a strong, growing medical center and proud member of Atlantic Health System. Fondly known as BBII, the fundraising campaign harkens back to the 1950’s and 1960’s when, as part of the original “Bucket Brigade” campaign, dozens of community members volunteered their time to stand by the side of the road on weekends with buckets, ready to collect spare change from passing motorists along Route 46 in Hackettstown. Their goal was to raise enough money to purchase land that would one day be used as the campus of this community’s first hospital. In three summers during the late 1960’s, the original Bucket Brigade campaign raised $101,000 to purchase that land and the rest, as they say, is history! The goal of today’s BBII campaign is to raise the $750,000 (the modern-day equivalent of the original Bucket Brigade’s $101,000) in three years. The generous donations from the Subaru corporation and Route 46 Subaru through “Share the Love” have gone a long way in adding to that total. Route 46 Subaru has set a wonderful example of generous, proactive support by a company that clearly and genuinely values their role in our community. By “sharing the love,” they are benefitting many patients in this region. Both Subaru of America and Route 46 Subaru are helping to ‘fill the bucket’ with generosity and love. Heavenly Helpers - Peter D

Sometimes an angel or, simply, help comes when you expect it the least. This time, our angel came from out-of-the-blue! St. John’s Soup Kitchen and Ms. Barbara’s Kitchen, our sister organization received an unexpected call early in November from Route 46 Subaru...some 50 miles away…asking if we could use a little help with our operation. Here at St. John’s and Ms. Barbara’s in Newark, NJ, we provide meals for the poor, the unemployed, the underemployed, and for the homeless and their families. It’s a special place where no questions are ever asked, nor any conditions are required to be met. And while our mission is to feed the hungry, over the years we have added more services to better assist those who visit our doors. In fact, we have morphed into a Women’s and Children’s Center, a health, clinic, and a men’s dining hall. All great services worth rendering! Now, up pops Route 46 Subaru! We received a call asking if we could use 80 blankets courtesy of their parent company, Subaru, and the dealership. Previously working with a Ladies Rest shelter here in Newark now closed, the dealership and its management sought to continue their efforts to assist in Newark and help those in need. We qualified in every way…and the timing was perfect! We’re so appreciative of Route 46 Subaru and the Subaru corporation. Route 46 Subaru called this a Love Promise. We call it the aid, the assistance, the “promise” of help we always need. While we serve over 500 meals a day, every day, keeping our “family” warm too helps with our core mission. We are always amazed at the lengths our supporters will go order to assist us, and that is because they too recognize the importance of our mission. Thanks to friends and supporters like Subaru and Route 46 Subaru. St. John’s Soup Kitchen and Ms. Barbara’s Kitchen, Newark, NJ

Helping 52 dogs find forever homes - Alissa M

Route 46 Subaru was an integral part of our success during the month of October. They helped advertise our adoptable pets, which was so important due to COVID. We typically hold adoptions at pet stores, but due to the COVID restrictions we can only meet offsite with pre-approved adopters, which has proven to be very difficult. In the month of October, we adopted out 52 dogs into their forever homes. The cross posting led to an adoption of Penny who was rescued from a hoarding case in GA. Penny was heartworm positive and came to us pregnant. She lost all of her puppies in their first week of life due to her own poor health. She had never been in a home before, had no name and was never pet and loved. Penny was painfully shy and scared. Her adopter saw her posting and brought Penny home where she is now flourishing! We are so appreciative of all that Route 46 Subaru did to play a part in Penny and the other 51 dog's futures.

Subaru Donates to Patients at RCCA - Stacy K

On Monday, July 8th, representatives from Route 46 Subaru delivered blankets and craft kits to Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA) in Hackettstown, NJ. RCCA is one the nation’s largest network of cancer specialists, proving leading-edge, individualized and highly compassionate care for cancer and blood disorders. The delivery was met by Lauren Snyder, Office Supervisor for the Hackettstown location. The photo attached was taken in the office and the staff was delighted to receive such a generous gift to distribute out to their patients. The RCCA staff shared with the Subaru representatives how much the patients appreciate the blankets and how lucky they are that businesses in the community want to keep their donations local to benefit cancer patients right in their own backyard. They are looking forward to receiving the blankets each year as they love giving their patients a bit of good news via this gift when they come for their appointments!
